Social Skills
Human's are social beings, so the ability to engage appropriately with peers is essential. Social skills are a significant area for children to learn and often develop through exposure to social situations in play and learning environments . When a child experiences challenges in their ability to understand and use appropriate social skills, it does have an impact on their learning and play experiences and may present as:
- Difficulty making and maintaining friendships
- Difficulty taking turns or sharing
- Reduced or limited joint attention in play
- Conversation/communication challenges with peers
- Difficulty expressing or managing their own emotions in social situations
