Services
Services we provide
Early Years Occupational Therapy is a paediatric Occupational Therapy service provider, working with children and young people aged 0-12.
Our services are delivered to meet the individual needs of the children and young people we work with. These services can include:
AssessmentFormal and informal assessment is used to gain a greater understanding of a child's current performance, in order to ensure therapy programs can be targeted appropriately to ensure skill development. This will include direct working with the child or young person but also interview with primary caregivers.
All new services commence with an assessment phase.
Goal directed therapy interventionFollowing assessment, individualised goals are documented and targeted therapy intervention will follow. The frequency and make up of these intervention appointments will be discussed and agreed with you. We prefer to work in intensive blocks of intervention which often includes a series of weekly appointments to create momentum towards the agreed goals. We then work with you to schedule consolidation breaks to allow transfer of skills into the naturalistic environment, before picking up again in another intensive block. This model of practice is supported in the literature as a very effective model of intervention and highlights the importance of integration of therapy into a child's natural environment to maximise skill transfer. Phone, email and telehealth consultations At times, face to face appointments can be difficult to arrange or keep, and as such, we offer the flexibility to book or change existing appointments to phone, email or telehealth (video) consultations where relevant. We also offer ongoing telehealth services to those outside of our geographical service areas. Currently this service is available to SA, WA and NT residents.
ReportsReports can be a useful component of our therapy intervention as they often summarise assessment findings, therapy progress and/or recommendations for future intervention. Typically we complete an annual progress report for all of the children we work with and other reports can be completed as requested or if clinically appropriate (with carer consent). Workshops/professional development training Upon request, Early Years Occupational Therapy can develop and present professional development workshops or training for staff working with children and young people in the community. Please contact us to discuss your training needs.
