Sensory Processing
Sensory processing is the brain's ability to receive information from the environment via the seven senses. The commonly known five senses are vision, touch, hearing, taste, smell. The less known but extremely important remaining two senses are proprioception and vestibular sensations. Proprioception is the sensation relating to joint and muscle movement while the Vestibular sense refers to movement and balance and ones awareness of their body position in space. Where the seven senses are not able to be effectlively interpreted and processed challenges are likely to present. Some people with difficulties in this area may become easily overwhelmed by sensory information while others may seek out sensory experiences. Others may simply be unaware and not notice sensory information they come into contact with.
